The brief

The brief was to create a strong, polished and immediately usable set of PR and retail launch photographs for Lindt. The work needed to support the communications department with imagery that could move quickly into press activity, internal updates, social media, local marketing, retail announcements and wider brand storytelling.

This was not simple event coverage. Lindt needed photography that showed the quality of the brand, the atmosphere of the retail openings and the public-facing energy around each location. The images had to feel warm, premium and accessible while still being clear enough for editors, PR teams and marketing teams to use without heavy explanation.

The locations

The commission covered a spread of important retail and consumer locations across London and the South East, including activity connected to Harrods, Central London, the Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus area, and Bluewater in Dartford. Each location brought a slightly different communications requirement.

Central London gave the imagery a strong public-facing and recognisable city context. Bluewater offered a major retail destination with clear shopping-centre footfall and store-opening relevance. Harrods added a premium London retail signal. Together, those locations helped create a fuller picture of Lindt as a brand operating across high-profile shopping, tourism and consumer environments.

What we covered

The photography focused on the elements that matter most to a retail PR team: shopfront presence, branded display, launch energy, customer engagement, product-led atmosphere, staff and guest interaction, and wider location context. The aim was to show not just that an opening happened, but that the brand had arrived in a way that felt visible, premium and active.

For a brand like Lindt, small details matter. The photography had to keep the product and retail environment looking polished, but it also needed life: people, movement, public interest, signage, display and moments that help a press picture feel real rather than staged. That balance is what makes retail PR photography useful beyond the day of the launch.

Press and communications value

The finished image set gave Lindt a practical library for multiple communications routes. The pictures could support local press stories, consumer PR, retail trade updates, website content, social media posts, internal reporting, stakeholder communications and future marketing references around store growth and brand presence.

This is where experienced PR photography differs from general event photography. A communications team needs images that are clean, on-brand, easy to caption and flexible across several formats. The photographs need to work as a press image, a social image, a website image and a record of the activation without feeling like four separate shoots.

Retail launch photography with brand control

Retail openings can be visually busy. There may be customers, staff, signage, shopfront reflections, limited time windows, changing light and public environments that cannot be controlled in the same way as a studio or boardroom. The role of the photographer is to create order inside that movement and deliver images that still feel considered.

For Lindt, that meant keeping the photography bright, brand-led and commercially clean while still showing the reality of an active launch. The result was a set of images that could communicate warmth, quality and public interest without losing the premium feel associated with the brand.

Why this assignment matters

This is a strong London PR case study because it shows the type of work that communications teams actually need: not one isolated hero image, but a joined-up visual record across multiple retail locations and campaign moments. It also demonstrates the value of using a London PR photographer who understands how brand, place, press use and speed of delivery fit together.

The commission connects naturally with London Photo Agency’s wider retail, PR and communications work. It shows our ability to photograph major consumer brands in real-world locations where the pictures must satisfy several audiences at once: the client, the PR team, the store team, the customer, the editor and the wider marketing department.

Outcome

The final result was a versatile PR image library for Lindt, covering store openings, branded retail presence, launch atmosphere and public-facing consumer engagement across London and the South East. The photographs gave the communications team a strong bank of images that could be used quickly and confidently across press, marketing and internal channels.

For London Photo Agency, the assignment stands as a clear example of retail PR photography delivered at brand standard: multi-location, commercially useful, fast-moving and visually polished, with one coordinated Picture Desk supporting the brief from start to finish.
